On the day that ND has ordered the Oceti Sakowin and other #NoDAPLcamps to clear, join us as we stand in solidarity with indigenous activists and call on the DC City Council to cut ties with Wells Fargo and other major investors in the pipeline!
Donald Trump has shoved through the final approval of DAPL in spite of fierce opposition by indigenous leaders, climate activists, and concerned citizens. As major investors in the project, Wells Fargo and 16 other banks are complicit in human rights violations taking place right here in the US.
Seattle, Davis, & Santa Monica have already cut ties with Wells Fargo. New York City's Mayor has urged the 17 banks funding Dakota Access to halt the pipeline's financing.
This will be the first of many calls for the city to end its relationship with DAPLS investors. It will lay the groundwork for DC to establish socially just, responsible investing practices that ensure our city does not endorse projects like DAPL in the future.
