UPDATE: Good news! A judge in Hawaii has issued a temporary restraining order putting the travel ban on hold in light of the legal challenges against it. Join us to celebrate this (temporary) win, and learn more about the power we the people have to make a difference!
************************
A new executive order was signed banning travel from 6 Muslim-majority countries. Dubbed Muslim Ban 2.0, it's scheduled to go into effect MARCH 16TH, but it may yet again be stayed in the courts.
Regardless of the outcome in the courts, we will gather on Thursday, March 16, to oppose the travel ban and call for action against Islamophobia, racism, xenophobia, anti-Semitism, etc. We will make clear that ALL are welcome in our state and we are united as Americans and Washingtonians and neighbors!
Join us at 5:30pm at Westlake Park! Speaking program will include faith and community leaders to speak about Islamophobia, hate crimes, the travel ban, the lawsuit challenging the travel ban, and specific action YOU can take.
We will close the program with the Islamic evening prayer. Those not participating in prayer are invited to stand holding hands in solidarity with their neighbors to send a clear message that we are united together on our shared American values, and love conquers hate.
People of all faith backgrounds are welcome to attend, including women, children, and youth.
Bring: rain coats, blankets, tarps, open hearts, bodies and minds willing to take action, and signs/messages of love and solidarity.
